I'm trying to help a young chap get a coil ignition Scott going. It's a 6v system but we dont know what sort of amperage the battery needs to be. Can anyone help please? Thanks.

I doubt it's crucial. Any motorcycle 6v battery will suffice. Not as if you have a starter motor.

Thanks, Brian. It's not something I'm an expert on. I'll pass that on, much appreciated.

Jerry,
2 of my British bikes are still on 6v, admittedly with magneto ignition but I don't think coil use will be different. With coil ignition though you will need to ensure the charging circuit is working !
Typically I go between 4-6Ah. Size is more critical to me as they are hidden inside a dummy Lucas rubber battery ....
I have just bought one of these for my '54 BSA B33:-

Something like that would be ideal.
