Again,thanks for comments all.
Had to cancel prebooked ferry from Newcastle as the Dutch don’t agree with me that travelling through their flatlands as fast as poss to get to Italy is a good reason to test their red tape, and DFDS promise to keep MY money safe for the next 13 months whilst they decide whether to give it back to me or not 😳 As has been mentioned,it’s a very fluid situation but we will keep juggling our limited options till we have exhausted plan Z 😉

Yes, though there are reports that this might change soon. However, don't hold your breath. |

The situation regarding travel to and from France will change the day that a Cabinet Minister or Tory contributor wants to visit their chateau in Dordoigneshire.......

Well since currently they don't appear to understand that Réunion is not a part of Metropolitan France, I doubt they could find their way to Dordogneshire. This additional quarantine for France is down to high infection levels in Réunion. |

"As The Connexion previously reported, the legislation creating the ‘amber plus’ exception specifically said it referred to people who have been in Metropolitan France. Legally-speaking it therefore means that people could travel to the UK having been in Réunion (as long as they avoid staying in mainland France on the way), under normal ‘amber’ rules which will soon exempt double-jabbed visitors from quarantine. On top of this, the UK's own red, amber and green list information page lists Réunion separately from France, and only mentions the special 'amber plus' rules as applying to 'France'. As the UK is treating Réunion and other French overseas regions as separate areas in its listings it would have seemed more logical to single out those who have been in Réunion for special treatment rather than those who have been in mainland France." You really could not make this up if you tried....... |

Well I don't know what the Connexion says, but on Radio 2 news this afternoon it was reported that France had complained about the Amber plus rating for France, saying it was political. A UK minister responded that it was because of high levels of the Beta Covid infections in Réunion. A complete shambles? PS, that UK Minister was Dominic Raab, the Foreign Secretary. Also reported in today's Times newspaper. Clearly our Foreign Secretary didn't get his Geography GCSE. He actually referred to the "Réunion part of France".

There is a high incidence of Beta ( South African ) variant on Reunion. Reunion, for those who don't know, is an overseas department of France and is an island in the Indian Ocean over 9000km from mainland France. As before, it's like France saying UK residents cannot come to France without quarantining for 10 days because of an outbreak on the Falkland Islands........

Heres the latest advice. Note that it is due to be revised today.
Heres that link to the page: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/italy/entry-requirements#entry-rules-in-response-to-coronavirus-covid-19 Entry to Italy from the UK From 21 June to 30 July, on arrival in Italy travellers who have been in the UK in the previous 14 days must present a negative molecular or antigen test taken in the 48 hours preceding entry into Italy and fill in a digital localisation form. They must also self-isolate for 5 days, at the end of which they must take a rapid antigenic or molecular swab test for COVID-19 and test negative for release. Children under the age of 6, from the UK, do not need to test but are not exempt from self-isolation. Everyone arriving in Italy must also call the COVID-19 helpline for the region you are travelling within 48 hours, to inform them of your visit. If you wish to fly, you must present the airline with a negative COVID-19 rapid antigenic or molecular swab test taken no more than 48 hours before travel. Travellers arriving without a negative test will need to self-isolate for 10 days and undertake a test at the end of the isolation period. Travellers arriving without proof of a negative test and details of where they will self isolate may be refused entry. Before travel, you must complete an online digital form. This will generate a QR code, which should be presented to your travel provider and Border Police if requested. A paper form can be completed if you do not have an electronic device. Airport regulations note travellers are required to wear a medical mask Exemptions from testing and self-isolation may apply to travellers transiting Italy in a private vehicle for less than 36 hours and those travelling for proven reasons of work, health or absolute necessity, for less than 120 hours. The requirement to complete a passenger locator form will still apply to all travellers (even those exempt from testing and self-isolation). You can read more about the requirement to get a COVID-19 test (including when you might be exempt) on the Italian Embassy in London’s COVID-19 update page. Check Italian Embassy in London guidance, or contact your travel provider, for more information. If you are a UK national resident in Italy, we advise carrying proof of your residence when entering Italy. In addition to the above measures, all travellers to Italy should consult the Italian Government’s online questionnaire (in English) for more advice on entry requirements and travel to Italy Many airlines and airports serving Italy are operating a reduced service and may be subject to change. You are strongly advised to check your airline’s website, as well as the website for the airport you are intending to fly to for the latest information. |

Yes, just seen that too. It's all over the World Club Facebook page too, so I think it's genuine.
