I had last week off work with no plans on where I was going to go riding.
Keeping an eye on the weather forecast the week before, I decided on Saturday to go up to the Scottish Highlands.
Set off early hours on Sunday to ride up and find somewhere to camp (nothing booked just see how it goes)
About 2 Hrs into the trip it nearly all ended in tears. A deer came bolting out of the hedgerow and proceeded across the road straight into my path.Shocked  Thank you Mistral for growling when the throttle is snapped closed as this made the deer suddenly turn around and go back the way it came, I could here it's hoofs scratching on the road surface. After a fuel stop and a clean pair of underwear I proceeded on my journey.
I traveled around Skye and was shocked at how busy the roads were and the amount of people wandering around, so decided not to carry on any further into the highlands and ended up going around the Cairngorms, southern Scotland, the boarders and the north pennines. The roads were a lot quieter so I made the right decision.
Had good weather with only a few showers, saw some stags, red squirrels, a golden eagle and to top it off an otter.Big smile
Had a great week but the state of some of the road surfaces leave a bit to be desired though.

Lovely. I was up in the Highlands last year, the weather was superb and the old V7Special made the holiday an absolute joy. This North Coast 500 or whatever it's called has made the roads busier though and irritated the locals. I'm off to South Yorkshire on Saturday, it will be back roads all the way, which are still surprisingly quiet through Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.
