chaps, as a newbie the last thing I wan to do is start an oil debate however reading the handbook for the Convert it does specify a ‘Moly’ additive to the 90 weight gear oil in the final drive.
So trolling through the history on the forum the old favourite ‘Molyslip’ features highly. Now I’m familiar with the old green type with the syringe applicator ![]() ![]() But the modern equivalent appears to be a different package - a squeeze tube with pink banner. My question is, has anyone used the newer stuff and is it still ok to use?

I think you'll find that modern lubricants contain all the additives that you'll ever need.
Having said that ., there are many who swear by the stuff

You will note the design of the bevel box has hardly changed since your convert was made, yet the specification for moly has. It is no longer specified because, as Richard says, modern oils have all the additives required. But, adding some will do no harm. I'm sure both of those packages contain very similar stuff.

The Oem is Hypoy ep 90, since replaced by EP80/90 but with molyslip added. However modern oils synthetic I am told by Opie do the job,
I will say my Gearbox covered over 120k miles before needing a refurb it got noisy in 5th. Nigel at NBS did a service exchange, that gearbox did over 150k miles and the shift return spring went, I was offered a refurbished gearbox by Ray, done by Nigel at NBS for a very easy to decide on amount as it had covered over 150,000 miles , it was fine other than the return spring but I did the deal. NBS is the gearbox place he does an awful lot of them and to be fair it is a much cheaper option than buying parts new stripping the damn thing and then, as many found, putting it back finding something amiss, just in time effort and cost of retail spares Nigel is well worth the dosh.
