Hi
2014 Mk I V7 Stone Gearbox oil question (this is the 5 speed gearbox, not the later 6 speed) Normal road useage The manual says use GL5 85w90 oil.....which is mineral.
When I ordered oil a couple of years back from a MG dealer they supplied me with GL5 ENI 80w90 oil. Again mineral. Will GL5 75w90 synthetic oil be OK? I understand that synthetics are replacing minerals and offer lower viscosity in cold conditions. And I have 3 litres on the shelf. Thanks AndyB

I don't see a problem provided the slightly thinner oil when cold doesn't make the box notchy.
