Being somewhat of a serial bike buyer I’ve given up on heated grips in favour of heated gloves (Keis). I ride them on battery power for my routes from home and both my bikes have Optimate charging leads, into which I can plug the heated gloves for the duration of longer rides. Overall cost is lower as the system is transferable. Warmer than grips too as the back of the hands is heated.

I had heated grips on my 1300 Pan and have them on my NT1100. Although they get very warm if required they only keep the inside of hands warm but the outside of fingers still gets the windchill and get very cold. Got some heated gloves from santa last year and they are a lot better in my opinion as they keep the whole hand warm.

What makes you cry is when glove or heated grip dies . They have all moved on but you still need wind chill breakers and layers for when it goes wrong lol

I fitted a pair of oxford heated grips ,the first time i used them was in white freezing conditions i did 12 miles to try them out and my finger tips were frozen solid hurting but the rest of hands were nice and warm i was wearing a pair of to quality rst gloves but for the return home i changed gloves to a cheap pair of very loose fitting 2 fingered mitts cost £12 from aldi within 3 miles my finger tips had warmed up and when i got home my whole of my hands were toasted. So it would seem that wearing too thick a glove with heated grips was not a good idea.

I always found mits were warmer, all your fingers are together keeping warm. This is in the days before heated grips had been invented.

Heated grips for the palms, some form of wind protection for the backs. Just fitted a pair of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MLZGHG3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 to the little Breva - fit well, much cheaper than the Stelvio or Barkbusters options and they keep the wind off nicely. It's only when the temperature gets down below about 4 or 5 deg C that I consider the big gloves. Confession time - back in my youth (40+ years ago) I had silk opera style up to the elbow gloves under the army surplus gauntlets - thin, lightweight and yet they kept your hands and forearms comfortable |

Back in the days when I used to work for Delta as a dispatch rider on my '64 T Bird I fitted Oxford heated grips. As is often mentioned, the palms and fingers would be warm, but the back of the hand and fingers would be cold. I then fitted an Avon Handlebar fairing which protected the hands as well as taking the wind off the head and torso, the difference was amazing. I recall cruising down to London on the newly opened M40 on winter mornings with toasty hands and upper body, but extra insulation was required for the knees as the fairing directed air in that direction. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

looks awfull but, if it keeps your hands warm, that's the only thing that counts, unless you are riding your bike to impress others

And what's more terrifying is Google Analytics on my old website. The most common way to get to that page is to Google "men wearing plastic trousers"
I always wanted to be a fashion icon, just not that one
