Well today I had a run out on my 2007 £400 Burgman 400. Big smile

It's in cracking condition and just needed recommissioning after standing for 18 months.

One owner and 31k. It is an incredibly capable machine and with the huge under seat storage coupled with a 46 litre Givi top box it may be time to say goodbye to the ST1300.

This thing will definitely do the Alps for me and tour the rest of Europe effortlessly.

Think of a scooter with a huge amount of grunt and you'll get the picture.

This could well be a keeper

Sooooooooooooooooo   comfortable.LOL

4 helmets currently Rob.

2 under the seat and 2 in the top box .

Four helmet capacity and 2 seats means that the bike was clearly made for the Vietnamese market  where it can 2 families LOL

Some time ago I bought a bargain X9 for £300. This particular model had the Honda 250 single engine and was surprisingly quick. It also had the equivalent of a dustbin under the seat, plus a one bedroom flat in the top box.  I was guilt riven because I actually enjoyed riding it, but couldn’t admit this to one or two fellow riders for fear of the inevitable derision;  eg “you’re not riding that bloody thing on our next trip, are you”.  The first evening of ownership I rode to my sons house via country lanes; it was damp and chilly, but the cold didn’t get to me due to the efficiency of the screen and leg shields. My son loved it, so having other bikes to ride, I let him have it and was disappointed when he decided to sell it.  My conclusion was similar to yours, Darryl, a versatile work horse with a decent performance and economy.
If only I had the courage to actually admit I owned oneLOL

You are forgetting the 3 bales of hay to feed the animals too.

So if you just carry helmets, you can get 7 helmets on the bike?, 2 under the  seat, 2 in the top box, 1 for the pillion, and another one for the helmet riding it! Big smileHug

Took a ride to the opticians a couple of days back to pick up new reading specs, 49 quid.
Got a Notice of Intended Persecution in the mail today, 100 quid. 57MPH in 50MPH zone. My own fault.
Expensive specs!!

In anticipation of the ending of travel restrictions at the end of the month I have started a steady safety check of my Monza due to it being stood for quite few months. Decided to start with the brakes and straight away found the rear to be stuck, but after a short while it freed off with some reverse rotation. Moving to the front the wheel was well and truly stuck but with a bit of brute force, well as much as I could muster in a freezing garageConfused, the wheel  began to rotate only for there to be a `tinkling` noise as an unknown piece of plastic and metal fell on to the ramp. The wheel was extremely stiff to move and seemed to be locking up at a certain point. Looking from the front all seemed well but the wheel was still very stiff to move, at this point common sense and putting my glasses on revealed that the speedo drive was seized and had already destroyed the end of the cable hence the bits falling off. Once removed the drive was found to be seized solid and the stabiliser tang was well bent.
Two  hours later I managed to get the drive working as it should with copious amounts of grease injected in to it, unfortunately the cable was scrap so spare brought out. Because I`d stretched the cable when rotating the wheel the speedo end had given up and fallen apart, so screen off and clocks removed allowed me to repair the back of the speedo. By this time my finger ends were frozen and I couldn`t manipulate the nuts and bolts for reassembly, however a quick blast from the heat gun soon got me going again enough to complete reassembly.
In all 3.5 hours of toil in the cold, which considering I`d only gone to give the bike the once over seemed to be a poor start, we`ll see what tomorrow bringsOuch   but I've never come across this problem beforeAngry

CHRIS

Pumped the tyres up.

Due to one of the car-parks at work being commandeered for testing, parking is going to be difficult. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ride in next week. Shame...
