Just started the V50 up now we're ensconced in our new home. Started on the button despite having been idle since October and having old petrol in it. I'm just trying to find time to give it a run.

What did you do with yer bike today?

I uncovered it, warmed it up, put lots of clothes on (me) and rode it. Nothing special, just some local chores but I rode it and it was lovely. Looks like that's the end of the 'ride-able' weather for a few days (again) though, so now I'm off outside to lock it, cover it, and to strap the cover down!

I've said it before and I'll say it again (to myself) - those Keiss heated gloves? Yup, worth it.

Thanks Cugsy.
I  shall take your advice, especially as the 600 miles service was also double the price of yours.
Today I adjusted the chain, a task I find irritating having only had shaft and belt drive for the last 30 years. Having said that, it has only required it once in 7000 miles and it only took 5 minutes. I guess I can cope with that so the V85TT may have to fight it out in a road test with that new Triumph Tiger 900 GT for my next ride. I have no complaints about the VStrom, but it just lacks that certain something....

Modern chains are good aren't they? I can remember having to do this maybe every week – 7,000 miles, phwoar ... Big smile

Back in the olden days, we discovered that the RAF Hydraulic rigs used on VC10s had Reynolds 3/8 x 5/8 chain as part of the hose winding gear. Bargain! My little gang of mates fitted it to our bikes only to discover it needed adjusting daily. We didn't realise there were different specs of chain This was strictly for winding hoses!

Chain was fine, but there seemed to be a bit of clutch slip.

While I was servicing my fuel taps and filters I checked in on Jim and the under tank wiring. All OK so it seems.

Yeah well I put them there some years ago when I was having issues so I did. I have a few mounts left if anyone wants a few.

Next job was to try out the Ray Gun I bought in a thrift store for $5 a few years ago.
6°  both sides. I'll give it a tweak when I get my dizzy gasket.

And now a timely reminder gentlefolk....tight but not seized so it was

Then swiftly moved on to replacing a caliper with a broken bleed nipple on the SRX.
