Yes, I was wondering if they scrapped the bike after the film was made. Don't think I would want to buy it.

Scrapped after film? Washed it after?  Gods, what does it matter? The purpose of publicity is to sell the bikes, and if they trash a few in the making of that publicity, that would be perfectly normal.

Anyway, if it's some other bloke's bike, and he's having a blast on it, bloody good luck to him. Plenty of other ways to get a bike in a far sh*ttier state, riding the UK roads throughout the year.

I think you just might be in danger of taking tongue in cheek comments on this forum seriously...

Could be. Thanks for the reminder. I'll just stand back and make room for that chap carrying an ironing board to come through...

2019 V85: 48 MPG (claimed)
1979 T3: 46 MPG (actual)

What is this Euro 4 fuel efficiency baloney ?

I believe MotoPete has it right in questioning how relevant the quoted mpg is.  My scepticism on the advertised 48 mpg is that my Guzzi 1200 is weighed down with Cat. Convertor & Euro 3 requirements, produces an uneconomical 100 hp, yet gives 50+ mpg at worst and often 60 mpg on long trips.  Those are Actual figures, all the mileage is Guzzi's own so only as accurate as the odometer. I've covered 300 motorway miles on a tankful - which holds 5 UK gallons.

And indeed the Euro 4 doesn't mention fuel economy, the standard limits "emissions of gaseous pollutants".

A Euro 1 compliant bike (1999) still produces 11x the greenhouse gas CO and 15x the H/C of the V85 Euro 4 bike. An amazing achievement. I can only imagine how much contamination a T3 or indeed any pre-Euro 1 motorcycle is pumping out of its exhausr.

2020 and we get Euro5.  Who wants to be an engine designer?

Euro 1 is permitted to produce, not actually produce.

And as I said earlier, that 48 mpg is miles per US gallon, not imperial gallon. It equates to over 57 mpg imp.

So. 450+lbs full? Thats not too lardy these days...is it? My so called economical nc750 is 225kg. Mind you, it'll do 65mpg or so. But,it's as boring as fook! I like the look of the V85 and thats one reason I'd buy the bugger. I'm tall too, so the seat isn't an issue.  But at 10 1/2 biggies I'd have to look elsewhere - like a used Stelvio. And they're thirsty. Heavy too but a good solid bike even in the wet.

So, it looks like I won't be buying a V85.  OTH, I have been looking at an early multistrada. Ugly? Yis...but light and cheap.  Decisions descisions
Honda nc750x ...hmm - a superdream for the 21st century? ZZZZZZ But the goozi is back running..yesserii jim bob. Fun time
