V7 Classic Black and gold was the best. But green & black was nice too. Now blue is in!

Try pressures up/down a few PSI? I've heard different tyres have different optimum pressure.

Thanks Pete, I have increased the front pressure by 3 psi but it didn't make a great difference-marginally better. Will keep experimenting.

Got myself into a bit of a pickle with my log in details, but I am the same Chris!
The Contis are settling in a bit or maybe I am just adapting. The confidence in the grip is great, and no whitleining at all. However they really don't like changing direction quickly. I have had the front rebalanced with little hope that it would make a difference and it didn't. They would probably be great on a heavier bike. However I honestly couldn't recommend them for the V7. |

After a fantastic two weeks following the Scottish pre65 trial around Kinlochleven and the Scottish Six Days Trial around Fort William on my Beta 350 Motard I got my Avon Roadriders fitted to replace the Pirelli Demonds on my V7. My son and one of his mates needed some tyres fitting and a mobile fitter came to his house and fitted and balanced 5 tyres for £70. Got the wheels back in this morning and then about 70 miles in mixed conditions and they feel OK, the fitter looked at the front Pirelli with the same problem as my previous Pirelli and said it was definitely delaminating. It's now at the recycling centre. Steve.

Another 100 miles on the new Avon Roadriders today on dry roads I know well. It's not fair to compare new tyres to a squared off rear and a front that was delaminating but they felt good, a little slower to pick up and over through the Z bends compared to when the Pirelli's were new but very stable and secure. So they are well scrubbed in now but still plenty of chicken strip to go at. Steve.

Update on the Continental road attacks. A few days of high milkes on fast A roads and some B road bimbling and these tyres seem to have settled in at last. I don't think I would choose the road attacks again but they do inspire confidence in the grip department.

interesting read.
I've been a high mileage rider for the last 17 years, so have got through quite a few tyres in my time. I had road attacks on my TDM900, and they confident tyres.. but there was delaminating issues on the front 18" tyres (common problem at the time). That together with comments on here about Pirellis - and I think the one I have on my bike feel awful. Means I'll change brands. I absolutely rated Avon trailrider tyres on my MT-09 Tracer. Fantastic...but they don't make them in V7 sizes. Never tried battlax, but tempted by Avon roadrider. Anything else I could consider?

sorry one more q. Please
I normally fit my own tyres, but no stand on my V7. How do others get wheels off , I don't particularly want to spend money at the mo , I'm in my first year of business, so I don't have the old luxury of just buying what I need, but could make something.

I don't know about tyres but let me know if Moto Guzzi ever produce a V7 with something like acceptable suspension and fuelling at low revs and I might consider buying another !

Hello Red Leader One . . . At my last MOT, it was noted that the rear tyre on my 2015 V7II, was on its way out . . . It has always worn Pirelli sport demons since new . . . This next one will be the fourth. . . and on average I only get 4,400 miles from each one . . . Mr Mot tester got me a very fair price for a Battlax, and said the dual compound will be more resistant to "squaring off" the centre. . . However, this Sunday, on a ride-out with a friend, and fellow V7 owner, he told me that when he put a Battlax on his bike. . . That 4,400 miles was all he got out of his tyre . . . Sadly, I feel in a bit of a quandary. . . what to do for the best ..? Regards, Tony

I am now using radial Pirelli Scorpion Trail II front and rear - tubeless on cast wheels - they are billed as an 80/20 on/off road tyre (whatever that means?). Mileage is good, the rear is about half worn after 5000 miles. Tread depth when new was much more than a Sport Demon.
They turn in faster than the Demons and the tread goes further around the tyre. I was getting close to the tyre edge on the Demons but the Scorpions have a good 5mm chicken strip left on them for the same bank angles. My Sport Demon rear did 4800 miles as a comparison, front about 9000 miles. I had the same problems of harsh rear suspension - Hagon Nitros sorted that problem out.

Hello Andy, Great feedback . . . Your experience and feedback has certainly given me food for thought . . . I will bear your words in mind when I change my tyres in a couple of months . . . Harsh suspension..? Mine was eradicated with fully adjustable Ikons at the rear, and new springs with Andreani cartidges in the front . . . Regards, Tony
