Folks, what spark plugs are you using in your V50s?

I see the manual gives Bosch W260 T30, Marelli CW 9 LP, or Lodge 2 HLN.

Is there a NGK equivalent,  or what would you recommend?

Thank you.

Gutzibits suggest
Ngk bp7es extended nose

The ngk parts finder suggests b8es

Or you could go for the Iridium br8eix

Spark plug cross reference says the Lodge 2HLN is equivalent to the NGK B7ES

Can't find W260 in my list, but it says Bosch W5C for NGK B7ES.

I never liked or trusted NGK much so always ended up using Bosch. When I was using Rita ignition I tried NGk's once (edit: 850 LM motor), they caused the right cylinder to fire on the inlet stroke, because of the wasted spark. So hopeless. The Bosch however always worked without dramas.

I don't know why you would blame the plugs for firing on the wasted spark - surely it shows they're working better than the alternatives?

I don't have enough information nor clever enough to explain it, all I knew was the bike was unridable like that, put the old Bosch back in, no problem. I think it's more of an issue that the Rita is a wasted spark system.

Isn't the standard system wasted spark as it's driven off the crankshaft?

Whichever plug you use don`t forget to ensure the plug caps are in good order or as recommended renew them also at the same time

Yes, the Bosch system must spark every revolution.

But I had a Rita system on my SPIII, and never had a problem with too many sparks. Did have a problem with too few sparks when the coil went though.Big smile

Somewhere deep in my memory banks I think that the Lodge plug was a surface discharge type that used to be fitted to Alfa Romeos. They were very good plugs, you might be able to find some NOS on eBay.
