So given that V50 Monza pistons seem to be unobtainium, what would be the panel's suggestion to keep the rest of the (really quite nice) plot on the road in the future?

I see V65 and V75(?) engines for sale. And I see piston kits for them. Can one easily bolt these larger blocks onto the Monza transmission and frame?

Suggestions please?

I think you may need to change the headers as the engine is taller. Count the fins to tell the v35/50/65 apart.
But I maybe wrong so I may.

If changing to a larger engine then I am fairly sure that the V65 or the V7 will not fit the V50 gearbox as clutches etc. are bigger
Pistons still available from Harpers but cost plus shipping plus import duties make for an eye watering amount

I know a 750 engine has been put in a V50 frame, but don't know if it was the whole thing, engine and gearbox or just engine.I know the gearbox output shaft splines changed between the V50 II and III.

The clutch issue is at the gearbox end as the gearbox input shafts are  different diameters and obviously don't match. The engine side of the clutch shouldn't be a problem .You likely need to use the appropriate engine's exhaust downpipes and the carbs will be need to be larger on the 650..ignition systems and alternators also vary according to the era and that brings in lots of subtle but hassely things that need rectifying.
