Has anyone fitted any of the universal silencers - reverse cone etc seen on ebay to their loop. I'm looking for a cheap set of silencers for my Ambassador, that doesn't need to be standard at the moment. Comments please.

Or, does anyone have a set of anything for sale?

Got to get this on the road for Spring and I'm lacking funds.

Cheers John.

Hello John, I bought and fitted some to my V7 Special. They were the cheapest available at the time and sound much better to me than the cigar shaped originals with their 20mm diameter spouts. I've also binned the crossover and the replacements fitted the front pipes just right. The only downside I've noticed is that the chrome could be better and I had to make a couple of different brackets. There will be tons of them at Shepton Mallet this weekend.
I still have the originals, I was intending to sell them but never got around to it. Phil

I have an old pair of Dunstall slip ons in my lock up not doing anything. Chrome isn't good but insides should be OK as I poured old oil down there ??? years ago so I did.

Cheers

I tried some on mine, as the originals are getting a bit tatty. Couldn't tell you what they were from, but they fitted alright, although a bit tight round the gearlever from memory. They didn't have provision for the crossover and I couldn't get on with the vibration that seemed to arise, so I patched mine up and put them back on.

I have a couple of sets of original silencers and balance pipes, I'm not likely to need them anytime soon and would be happy to negotiate if you want to keep things original.

If John doesn't want them, I'd be interested. Mine are really rough now, in fact the whole bike is about due for some attention if I can get my little Ducati finished. New replicas are available but quite pricy, and would too shiny for the rest of the bike to live up to.
