Hi Fellow Guzzisti & Misfits,
I just bought my first Guzzi. The V7 iii Anniversario. Of course, I already have a shortlist of mods I would like to do. The cans the factory fitted look like they can be drilled through easily to remove the DB killers. Has anyone tried this with success in their garage?

not sure if doing this will effect the EFi
in the Uk its a no no
they are bringing in new noise laws now as so many motorcycle are failing the MOT test on excessive noise
anyway I prefer a motorcycle that runs quite and smooth

I've done it on a Sportster and the results were very satisfying! The EFi on a Sportster can correct for minor changes but honestly not sure about V7.

The only suggestion i'd make is don't go over the top and do it in stages to get the volume you want. Its not easy to go back - although standard pipes for newer bikes are usually available on ebay for a reasonable price if it all goes wrong.

Or go aftermarket and save the standard pipes for the MOT.

One day bikers will learn it's possible to have a good sounding exhaust note that isn't necessarily that loud.

The old story of Harley's being a device for converting fuel into noise without the embarassment of power comes to mind.

round here its middle aged males with new harleys and open pipes, beards, ponytails and type 11
one clown pulled up next to my car in traffic, it was running way to rich and stunk the street out, the straight through pipes were so loud they set my car alarm off even though the engine was running, and the dashcam shock sensors went wild, loads of lights came up on the dashboard ( its a newish car)
I shouted at him but he could not hear me and kept grinning
could not report him as his reg plate was low down on the nearside and he was on my nearside
I now know where he lives, so he may get an early morning call from me

I find loud pipes antisocial both on motorcycles and cars

oddly my machine is standard and I have not been pulled over by the police in any country for 15 years ?

But there are people who insist it is their right to make a noise and that loud pipes save lives !

Round here it's mainly cheap cars on knackered silencers, quadbikes with little or no silencing and twats on sports bikes try to make it from the lights to the roundabout without changing out of first.
But for me one of the worst noises is a well used BMW 3 series boy racer running a cheap stainless exhaust system. Sounds like fingernails on a blackboard.

I like this thread! It sounds like a metaphor for modern Britain! Something the specials would write. Could be worse it could be a ghost town of the late 70’s and early 80’s

Might have mentioned this before, but with my car driver's hat on, I can confirm that as an audible warning of approach, it doesn't work.

Hee Hee that got you going!

There's annoyingly loud and the pleasant sound bikes used to make before the bureaucrats got their way. There's obviously plenty out there that don't appreciate the difference but I'd like to think that most of the educated sort's on here would.
