Has anyone had fitting issues with roadrider tyres , I bought 100/90 for the SP front and also front & back for my Morini 3 1/2 . I’ve been fitting my own tyres for over 40 yrs - and for the life of me I can’t get these tyre to seat , I’ve taken the psi to scarey levels to pop them on the rim - using plenty of washing up liquid but to no avail on both bikes.
I’ve used Roadriders for at least 10 yrs and had no problems in the past & I do rate the on the road .

The guy that used to fit my tyres also used to do them for Nigel at NBS. He hated doing Guzzi wheels - not sure why but he said they always needed a lot of pressure to seat them.
Last pair I had done were BT45's rather than Avon, and needed 100psi. I was hiding behind the pillar in the workshop while the compressor struggled.
He's just retired so I'll have to find someone else now.

I had a pair of Avons roadrider2s put on the V35, they were tight and the fitter suggested leaving them at 90 psi for a few days to get them to stretch ( once he'd got them on)  - not a problem as its still not registered !
The rims weren't powder coated or anything else, just tight tyres I think

My Monza had several trips to the tyre fitters because of the same problem with Avons, however I put it down to newly powder coated wheels. Mine also had to be pumped up to 100psi and left but all that was happening was that the inner tubes were being destroyed or severely weakened. Final solution was to convert the wheels to tubeless using valves bought off Ebay and to sand the inner wheel down with a flap wheel . Of the three V50/3s this is the first time I have come up against this problem with new tyres.

Take the inserts out of the valves, put loads of soap solution on the tyres & rims, set the compressor to 100psi + and inflate. They'll pop up onto the rim with a very pronounced 'BINGGG!!!'.

It worked on my G5 when I fitted a new pair of BT45's a couple of years ago. As the tubes are only over-pressurised for a very brief period, no damage should result.

I think the pair of ridges inside the rim are the problem; the tyre beads have to get over them before they can seat on the outer part of the rim. This particular feature doesn't seem to occur on more modern cast wheels (or even Japanese cast wheels of the same era), and I would hazard a guess that they're not strictly needed (and are only there to antagonise the unfortunate owner!!)
