Morning Guys,

Looking at the torque wrench settings from my maintenance manual on my G5, I did the classic double take when I saw some of the values, such as:

Swing arm spindle nuts @ 57 ft/lbs

Fork top plugs @ 87 – 108 ft/lbs

Steering lock bush @ 122 – 130 ft/lbs

Wheel spindle nuts @ 100 – 108 ft/lbs

Frame cradle securing bolts @ 57 ft/lbs

Shurely shome mishtake……..????

Regards

Mark

I had to use a 3 foot breaker bar & socket to loosen the wheel nuts on my then brand new X10 maxi-scooter. A scooter FFS. Had to practically stand on the bar. Madness! I have only ever used the toolkit ring spanner, 24 - 28mm? on my Guzzis' wheel nuts, maybe with a wee tap-ette with a hammer tightening up, NEVER had any come undone by themselves.

I agree Mike. There seems to be a tendency to over torque most things by the OEMs in my opinion
