Thanks for these tips. I'll give 'em a go (and there was me, ready with a hammer to 'adjust' the offset of the lever ...).

Did replace the air filter without a struggle though.

It runs very close on my V50. I found that if I slackened the balance tube clamp and cylinder head fixing on the RHS I could squeeze the pipe in enough so the pedal cleared it. I also fitted the silencer bracket on the inside rather than the outside of the frame mounting tube.

I like the pedal to be fairly low so I don't have to lift my foot to operate it.

In my case the excessive brake pedal travel disappeared when I finished bleeding the brakes

Thanks to the great advice on here I'm making progress in awakening the new-to-me V50 after many years in storage. Carbs cleaned and replaced, battery fitted, and we have lights! Next will see if the starter spins things over (spark plug thread to sort out before actual start-up). Also the brakes to bleed and check. I notice that the rear brake lever can touch the exhaust when pressed. There is a bit of slack in the various linkages but I can't see any obvious adjustment to increase clearance, and the run of the exhaust looks right. Anyone else had this issue, and solved it? Mike
