The ebay seller "valtermotousa" seems to have had batches of pistons made at some point or bought out someone who had. Not just for Guzzis either.

I just rebuilt a V700 drivetrain for a customer and used the same pistons. Nice quality and slightly lighter than original (490 grams vs. 500-505). A set of rings was going to cost ~ $130, so for not much more the new pistons seemed like a "no brainer".

Here's a photo album of the customer's V700 drivetrain rebuild:

Thanks for the photo's Charlie.I shall be following this re-build with great interest. Were the pistons a lucky find or is there still a lot of NOS for these models in the USA?
Looking forward to the next instalment!

My little Ducati has 4 rings, with 1 below the gudgeon pin.

The rings themselves are "normal", there's just two oil rings instead of one. I bought these new pistons to replace the originals and will have the cylinders replated in Nikasil.

A lot more work and $$ than I originally had hoped, but I'll do what it takes to make it right mechanically.

You're certainly getting well stuck into it. Obviously a lot to do but loads of potential.
