In the end I went for a 3-man like you. When weather is lashing down in the mountains it's great to get all the biker kit in the dry, and a spacious tent avoids Cabin Fever in a long storm. Mine has a sleeping area 2.3m long and 1.9m wide I believe. Room to stretch out even when 6' 4".

The real luxury as you get older is standing headroom but that rarely comes in a small pack size. I made do with kneeling headroom. And I'm not even six foot.

I think the bulk and the weight of the Force Ten can be an inconvenience when travelling two up. But when riding solo it just sits where a pillion passenger would otherwise sit and acts as a convenient backrest. A couple of Easters ago a group of us were camping on the Isle of Wight near the Needles. The wind gusts were recorded at 107MPH by the local weather station. Two of the bikes blew over caravan windows were blown out and the other half dozen tents fared very badly. The well-named Force Ten was fine.
