Properly made there should be no chance of breakage.
Brian.

Ive got experience of 2 pairs of Tarozzis, one pair on my Guzzi cafe racer Guzzi. They clamp up fine on the legs but the adjustable angle bars will not clamp up tight enough to stop them slipping down when you lean on them, even failed an MOT once

The ones on a Morini 350 I bought had been tightened so much that they'd cracked

'Guzzi' Bob Case who's quite active on Guzzi forums, showed me a video of his mate crashing his Guzzi at the end of a straight on a trackday when his Tarozzi slipped.

I think they are junk

Years ago I had a head on with a Ford Capri.  My right side handlebar bent forwards with the shock, so I was launched forwards with a twist, hitting the windscreen with my right shoulder, rather than face first. He was still moving forwards, so I described a graceful arc and landed sprawled across his headlamps.
The right side handlebar had held firm, driving the ball into the socket in a wrist joint, and splitting the bone lengthways.
So I'd say it's a funny old world and you just don't know what to do for the best.

I'd forgotten about that!  Explains why Mike was so interested in the (good) clip-ons on my Morini!! Smile

As an aside, he's now recovering from highsiding his TT2 Ducati

Thank you for some informative replies re the Tarozzi clip ons. I think the experience of others who have fitted these previously answers my question.

It is certainly not ideal in my mind to use one bolt to close the two separate and different clamps. i imagine the force required to hold the conical joint together and prevent it swivelling up and down is much more than the force required to clamp the fork leg.

Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
