hi about to put my forks back on and wondered about the 2 lock ring/ nuts, realise the first goes on and tightens the steering head the second acts as a lock nut but wondered if there was any particular way as have noticed one edge is flat the other tapered. Presume flat side down on first but does it make any difference which way the second nut goes on?

Thanks Chris

Hi Oscar. I don't think it really matters which way up the nuts go.I've just had a look at my bikes. The V7 Special has the chamfer to the top on the top nut and to the bottom on the bottom nut.The GT850 has both chamfers to the top.As the latter bike is almost as it left the factory with a fairly low mileage I suspect that chamfers uppermost is the standard setup. The 750 has done a large mileage and I have replaced the steering head bearings and put the nuts back "incorrectly" It doesn't seem to make any difference.
