No, read my last post. You also have the dash going blank.

When you press the start button you should get no volts on the brown/white.
I assume you have a digital meter. They don't react to brief changes in voltage and I suspect you do get an earth on that wire for the short time when you hear that clunk. Then the dash loses voltage and the earth is removed.

Hidden somewhere near the ECU is an ECU earth wire, connected to the frame. If this is not making good contact I know it can cause strange things to happen. There is also an earth wire to the dash which must earth on the frame too.

Must admit I'm running out of ideas. If it was my bike I would be tempted to simplify the start system. I would remove the brown/white wire from the start relay and put in a new wire and arrange that the start button just puts an earth on it. This would mean that you could start it in gear or with the side stand down though.

Just as an experiment can you connect a wire to that pin on the start relay and touch the other end to an earth, with the ignition on it shoud start.
Brian.

I was reading through an old post on here the other day, someone with a similar problem, the ecu earth was the cause then, so I found that and made sure it was clean, i will look for the dash earth next and see how that goes. If that doesn´t work i will try your suggestion.
