Hi,
I need to replace the battery on my 1998 Sporti - any advice on a good battery (not too expensive) and where best to buy ... shop or online?
Thanks

I got  a YUASA from the Dealer under warranty and it works OK, ?I do not think they are that expensive and it does lay on its side but no signs of leaks. I can get the part number if you wish but I also had to move the earth braid location to get it to fit (no biggie) which suggests there are better options.

I have been advised that Gel type are better due to the battery position but there is a good tray in the bike.......

I have bought 2 batteries online for Annies Virago both failed quickly lasted 1 year! Last one I bought was a Yuasa via Tanya and it is OK been in 2 and a half years all good.
The Guzzi V1000 works best with a Lead Acid due to the Bosch charging system after some research lead acid batteries usually charge at 14.2V max BUT the AGM ones fitted to the V11 with a Ducati system max charge is 14.6V HOWEVER get a solid state variable Regulator fitted to the older bike and an AGM should be fine. I can get these Variable regs for £23 delivered anywhere in the UK.
On the V11 I paid the dosh and got from my dealers a OEM battery after 10 yrs it is still good, you pays yer mhunny  takes yer choice

I run AGM Odyssey PC545 £99 FROM Thompsonsltd off ebay or M&P ,Busters . Its good because you can lay it on its side . I was told Gel batteries are not good for 1100 sport but can not remember why think its to do with charging

yep they need to charge at 14.6 v the lead acid would boil at that and is 14.2v IF you have a Bosch system or one with separate regulator get a solid state variable reg and it will be good I can get these German ones for £23-£24 delivered ....fit on a Tonti where the can of the old reg fits and plugs right in
