I'd like to shift the footrests on my G5 back a few inches to give me the same riding position as an SP1000. I therefore need a shorter replacement gear lever as I don't want to modify my original one.

Does anyone have a spare one from a SP1000? The part no. is 17250960, and the same lever was fitted to the Mk3 Le Mans (and possibly other models as well). Alternatively, I could modify a tatty one from a G5?

It'll save me making one!

... bear in mind that some people call this thing a 'shift pedal or shift lever' and that the model is sometimes referred to as a 1000SP, or 1000 SP-1.

You also might strike lucky by searching on the part number - actually GU17250950 /  17250950  in the part manual I looked at.   ( http://www.gawa-guzzi.de/gebraucht.html came up trumps this way)

Good luck!

Thanks Guys,

I did try Gutsibits plus Nick's Euro Bits, but no joy with either.

I solved the problem yesterday by buckling down and making one (which I'd hoped to avoid - lazy sod that I am!). I used the original as a pattern and then cut/turned/bent/welded/ground the bits as necessary. All I've got to do now is swap the lower frame rails with some replacements (the original footrest mount get in the way of the new gear lever).

Once the paint's dry and it's all together, I can hopefully get the slightly more 'leaning forward' posture that I'm after - not that the 'standard' riding position has stopped me doing 1000 miles in the last 3 weeks!

Never fear, the originator is here!

As I posted long ago, I made my own gearlever (easy enough to do). New frame rails and rearset footrests sorted out the rest.

Thanks anyway!
