Hi Guys,

So are the values in the Guzzi workshop manuals reliable? I used an online converter to go from kgm to Nm but the Nm values look high to me.

For example:

Rear wheel spindle nut 9kgm (88 Nm)
Bevel gear to housing nut 10kgm (98 Nm)

Or am I wrong?

Thanks

Well if it helps, my V50 manual says Bevel drive nut 10 kgm or 70 ft/lbs. = 95Nm
Wheel spindle nut 14-15kgm or 98 - 105ft/lbs. = 133 - 142 Nm.

So yes, they are very tight. Not that I have ever done the wheel spindle up that much, but the bevel drive nut is tight.

Ditto, I've also noticed the massively high torque for spindle nuts and no I only ever did them up "that much" (by feel) - that'll do that's done up Big smile

To convert kgm to Nm just multiply by 9.81.

I noticed the same thing when I changed my rear tyre, I thought "OMG, that tight?!!"
Well my rear wheel has never been out before and it definately wasn't that tight when I undid it.  I did mine up to 80Nm, that felt about right to me.
