She could just do a Saturday morning CBT to ride a 125 at less expense than A1, it just means she`ll be on L plates, but she could keep taking it every 2 years

She's had a full car license for almost 30 years which gives you a full license for a moped. Besides she is nervous of riding on the busy A52 to Nottingham in the morning. She's building up to it.

I've got a 17 year old daughter who has shown an interest too. She likes my little Guzzi.

The A52 certainly is busy heading into Nottingham,I go that way every day.Are mopeds still restricted to 30mph?I would prefer something that could keep up with the traffic.

No, she's catching the train but still has to get to the station. If she gets on with the moped she thinks she may do her cbt and get a 125 for the B52.

So do you have to pass a CBT before you're allowed on a 125?

Yes - if you want a bike licence now you have to do a cbt before you are allowed on the road. To get a full licence for a 125 you have then to do a theory test and a full motorcycle test - even if you have a full car licence.

If you are like me, who passed bike test in 1985, did it on a Suzuki GP 100 and then given a licence to ride anything!

My two girls now ride 125 scooters and they both said that compared to their previous 50s their current scooters are a lot more confidence inspiring and `more fun`. The biggest grouch with the 50s was there low speed causing lots of car drivers to `tailgate` in the hope that it would speed them up.

I moved my daughter from a Honda CG125 because of that when she had passed her test to one of these

It was restricted for two years till she was 19
Best £2999 I ever spent

I was out with her one day and was left far behind.
She had her mate on the back and a copper on a bike stopped her.
I was spitting blood when I caught up.
She had coughed to 93mph (I'd thought it impossible) the copper let her off.
I think he was thinking of my health.

Much as it infringes the human rights of the would-be motorcyclist, the decrease in accidents must be massive. At 17 years old I hopped on me CB175 and rode it 180 miles each way home and back to work every weekend through the winter. I fell off several times, once sliding into a Police car . If I had been forced to take some basic training I might not have so much arthritis now! I didn't realise it was so strict now.
