Then I step on the centerstand tab which gives some feeling of the bike being vertical, hop the other foot onto the bench and heave.

Being a youngster of 55 I very much agree that with the gentleman above.

What you don't yet appreciate is that there will come a time when you can't waste an erection
or trust a fart.

Apart from washing in it and using it to make a refreshing beverage I don't have a lot to do with water. Swimming is for fish and aquatic mammals who have had many years practice staying alive submerged in it.

Once as a slender youth in my fifties I owned a Honda Magna. Some, perhaps not many of you will know is quite long for a motorcycle. It was very easy to spot in a bike park, mine was the one with the front wheel a foot in front of all the others. I had managed to park outside my local hardware shop at just the wrong angle to the camber of the road. As I tried to move off I had that feeling of not quite being in control as the bike slowly leant further away from me. I gave into the laws of gravity and let it gently fall to the floor in what I thought was a remarkably controlled manner. At that point a dear little old grey haired lady rushed out of the hairdressers next door. "You should be more careful at your age!". Wise words. Exit stout party, suitably chastened.

Could you not use some 6x2 joists with a bit of ply for the surface? Two 6ft lengths of it each side with some ply between the pair.
Brian.

Doh! I over simplified again...I blame that on reading too much Etienne Vermeersch and looking for the obvious answer to everything. Sorry!Embarrassed

Thems is Barkbuster Storms and they certainly seem to keep the chill off for a while once you get them adjusted right. Nice and easy to fit too.

Can't say for sure but I don't see why not if the handlebar switches are the same. They only fix with a clamp around the bar.

I also use a 5 foot length of plank (floorboard) as a ramp. When the bench was in my shed I had 3 lumps of 3x3 timber offcuts handily placed so the bike could be wheeled onto the bench and left or right footrest leaned on the wood leaving the bike just slightly off upright. I tried riding it on once and nearly killed myself but did have success with 'driving' it up the ramp while walking beside it, slipping the clutch. The ramp was quite steep, running out of the shed. Don't give up.

Thank you kind sir, but I do hate clutter. The wife has been banned from it due to her insisting on keeping the old spin dryer on the left simply because it was a wedding present from my Grandmother in 1974!Confused
