Looking ahead to sunnier days, I thought some might be interested to know about this.

Every year we have two well-established TT style road races here, at the historical venues of Gedinne and Chimay. Unlike the TT, the circuits are much shorter and the races are grid-start. They're attended by competitors from all over Europe with classes from 50cc to Unlimited and several side-car classes, all "Classic" only, plus some "Post-classics". Both have a camping ground overlooking the start-finish line.
Gedinne is the more picturesque of the two, and cheaper to attend, being club-organised.
Both circuits are in the Ardennes, a fine region for bike touring.

Chimay details are here:    http://www.circuit.be/

Gedinne details here, not yet current, but always takes place on the last w-e of august:

Castrol R fumes, hay bales and Belgian beer !

P.S. I have no personal stake in either event, but anything I can help with, just ask.

Only one I have done in Belgium was a rally at the Zolder circuit which included a few laps. It was a long time ago.

But these would be good to see.

Those two Belgian road races look great. I was thinking of going to the Manx GP, but might go to Gedinne instead to see how that is !

Probably nearer to me too !

I suspect belgium would be far cheaper to get to than the IOM.

I'm off to Chimay and an exploration of the Ardennes this summer. It's a lot cheaper than the IOM.The racing isn't really my thing but it incorporates a friends 60th birthday celebrations so one can't be churlish. The tour of the Ardenne is more to my liking, twisties, scenery and history, can't wait.

Funnily enough I was in the Ardennes last week - took a bit of a long loop trip to Le Mans involving Wallonia and Luxembourg.  Some cracking roads out there.
