2008 V7 Classic, 4439 miles.

My engine warning light has started coming on at random times.
This morning was the first time, and I put it down to the heat. I'd had a slow, mostly 2nd gear, ride along lanes, then parked in the sun for 20 minutes. When I started up again the light stayed on. I stopped after a couple of miles for a few minutes, re-started, and all was well again.
This evening, parked at bike night for an hour, so the engine was cool when I started up. The light went out after the usual ignition-on checks, then came back on a moment later and stayed on all the way home (8 miles). I switched off and re-started a couple more times along the way, but light stayed on. The bike runs fine & sounds good. No other lights, and no service message.
At home I switched off, waited a minute, re-started, and all was well again.
Anyone else had this? Any thoughts about cause?

Hi,
Not paticularly helpful, it may alay your fears.

I've had similiar with my V7 Classic 2008. Bought from a cchap
Who informed me it happened and right enough it was on almost constanly but with no ill effects.

I put it down to the finebau thingy not being set correctly, however this year I've been usuing it in earnest and it has stopped coming on, until yesterday while travelling in temps of 35c.

Like I mentioned not very helpful, but I don't worry to much.
Regards
DWC

Thanks - that's actually reassuring. I do think it was because of the unusual heat lately. I've been out this morning (back to more normal UK temps) and the light hasn't come on at all. I've been doing short runs lately, but a good long thunder about at the weekend will put the Guzzi right. And me too... Thumbs Up

You anywhere near Dartmouth? I was down there 3 weeks ago and saw a white V7 Classic go the other way while I was in the car on the Kingsbridge road, near Blackpool Sands I think.

I'm near Totnes, but it wasn't me, mine's black. I too saw a white V7 recently on that same road, going along Slapton Straight.

There was also a really tasty looking V7 Racer with chrome tank at Paignton bike night yesterday. Gorgeous looking bike.
