Has anyone tried a Venhill hydraulic clutch conversion on modern V7. Mine is a classic. Clutch becoming hard work

Tried a similar one, identical to the version sold by Gutsibits.

Initially I thought "This is GREAT !"
Then discovered that for some reason, it was very difficult to obtain consistent declutching over the engine's temperature range.
Then I had the (very thin) actuating rod snap, due to the slight torsion induced by the lever movement.
Unlike carrying a spare cable, there is no fixing this at the roadside. Went back to cable.
I would say, be sure the Venhill version works satisfactorily on your model before spending the dough, and investigate first why the clutch is becoming stiff.

Maybe a new Venhill cable would sort it out.

Good call, and check the cable route that there are no sharp bends.

Many thanks   Very helpful. I had thought about replacing with Venhill. I do have a universal cable.
There is a 90 degree bend after the lever. I think that removing that plus The Venhill cable might make it lighter.

You do need to check the cable run, eliminating any sharp bends.
A slightly longer cable can sometimes help with this. But if the clutch used to be OK, then almost certainly a new nylon lined one will make a difference.
But also check the gearbox end adjustment. The lever should be at 90 degrees to the cable when the handlebar lever is about half pulled.

Many thanks. I assume it’s a tank off job but straight forward.

Yes, probably easier to see the full run with the tank off. Just make sure you don't pinch it or something when the tank goes back.

Latterly for mine I put a new cable on, AND changed the whole clutch lever for a different one, which came from Gutsibits. Totally transformed the clutch action. And to think I'd been struggling with the old one for years! Ouch

I think the later clutch perches have better leverage for a start...venhill cables are really good compared to most too.

Before you go to the effort of messing with the clutch operating system, have  a look at the operating arm on the gearbox
my clutch got very heavy, I asked Antonio to look at it and the pivot turned out to be seized, he had to remove it and replace it with a new pin and new bearing
