Hello I've just joined the Forum!
Since the 1980's I've owned two T3's one G5 and a modified T3/Le Mans with Ducati twin disc front forks which was a bit of a monster. I loved them all.
I now have a recent V7, my everyday bike and a lovely T4.
The T4 has been residing in France. My plan is to fit a renovated right hand Dnepr sidecar to use fora bit of gentle touring.
Trying to understand the paperwork complications of fitting and registering an outfit in the French system when the UK registered motorcycle has not previously had a sidecar fitted is drawing me to the conclusion that both bike and sidecar will need to return home to be fitted, registered with the DVLA then taken back to be French registered?
The local Guzzi dealer near to me in France won't take the job on due to the paper work complication!!
Any other ideas?
Secondly the airbox and filter has been removed and two 'pancake' type filters fitted. They seem to be restricting the air intake when accelerating. I want to fit some Khoni conical filters rather than return to an airbox, would this be a mistake? As it is I am finding it difficult to find airbox parts.

Except if done in the UK, sidecar must be fitted on the left. Unless registered before 1982, I think it is, or if anyone else knows differently...

You could try talking to the (British) sidecar federation or maybe Watsonian or F2 Motorcycles. (?)

The French do love their paperwork.
Friend of mine who lives there bought a caravan in England and took it to France intending to be able to use it with his french registered car.
No chance, couldn't get it registered there. Ended up buying a Brit car to tow the caravan in France.

I wish you all the best with the sidecar.

I have been using this type for quite a few years. You will need the intake stubs that fit onto the in side of the carb.  No doubt someone has them lying around.

Unless the T4 is over 30 years old, and you can get a certificate from FFVE - forget it. You may waste a lot of time and money tryingCheck out the tales of woe on the “bikers club France“ forum CryCry

Hi Roy ,
paperwork will be a complete pain in the a.If you have the patience and money it "could" be done but I'd give these guys a call first https://www.alternative-sidecar.com/index.php/services" rel="nofollow - https://www.alternative-sidecar.com/index.php/services . They may be able to help and explain clearly what needs to be done. At very least the bike will need  homologation papers , the outfit probably needs to be checked by the local Drir but if you register it as a collection vehicle then the paperwork and checks might be more simple. The insurance if you do that will be a lot cheaper.Good luck !
