I find my knees on my V50 Monza are at a more acute angle than I would prefer.
I read somewhere that standard V50 footrests and brake and gearchange can be fitted.
Any one know if this is possible please ?

I currently have standard bars fitted and not clip ons.

Thank you.

I believe the lower frame rails are different as the footrest and brake / gear lever mounts are welded to them on the V50.

Ian is spot on you would have to fit V50/3 lower rails to accommodate the standard footpegs. The lower rails on the Monza are different to accommodate the `rear set` pegs but you may be able to fabricate something to suit your needs.

Thanks very much ian and c13pep.

Your answer ties up with what I guessed it might be.

I'm afraid fabrication is a little beyond me so I guess I have just two options now -
Live with it, and it isn't too bad really, or swap my Monza for a normal V50 but that involves research and buying and selling.
I quite enjoy the buying bit but selling is something I'd rather do without really.
And in case you're wondering it's because I don't like having to deal with some potential buyers as life is too short to even talk to some of them.
Except for those on the forum of course as they are a grand bunch of honest and trustworthy people.

Thanks again.

You shouldn't have a problem as Monzas are well sought after - dare I say, much more so than normal V50s.

I'm wondering if this is a sartorial difficulty...?
Do you wear leathers? I've noticed some fit when the rider is walking around, others when the rider is actually on the bike.
Might be easer to change the trousers -- expertise of that nature is not unknown here ...

Save yourself the heartache keep the Monza but make it fit your requirements, it`s not a difficult job and you can always return it back to stock when you want to cash it in. The bottom rails (V50/3) are only bolt (6 bolts) on and fairly regularly available on Ebay as are the foot pegs etc.

Ask on here if someone wants to swap?
If you were in Copenhagen I would have gladly swapped with you.

No leathers.

Thanks Chris,

I'll have a little look for bottom rails but I'll probably just live with it as it isn't really a serious problem.
I was just thinking aloud I suppose and if it had been a simple change I would probably have gone for it.

I should also add that it was only last week that the little Monza came out of hibernation as per this posting -  http://www.guzziriders.org/after-nearly-5-years-she-lives-again_topic10247.html?KW=" rel="nofollow - http://www.guzziriders.org/after-nearly-5-years-she-lives-again_topic10247.html?KW=
Maybe after a few more rides it might fit me a little better as I get a little more used to riding it again.

Thanks for the replies people, most appreciated.

I don't know the detail but would it be possible to lower the Monza footrests? I actually find the standard V50 ones on the high side and feel as if my knees are touching my chin so it's something I'm considering for mine. A quick shufti suggests that a bit of flat bar could lower them 10mm or so. Of course I'll then have to check that the gear / brake levers don't hit the exhausts when they're lowered to suit......

I want to move the footrests forward Ian.
At least I think I do.

I could really do with a V50 Monza and a V50 side by side to check how much difference it would actually make.
It may be less than I'm expecting.

Greg Bender has an interesting article on small blocks including V50 / Monza footrests. Worth a read with lots of useful information

Brian do you think it is worth adding link to Guzzi Rider site

I know Mike, I know.

And a very good point, one that I will probably follow and stick with the Monza.

Thank you.

The above is from the initial posting on this thread.

I knew I'd read it somewhere. Just remembered.

It is on page 33 of the current Gambalunga magazine, July / August 2019.

The article was referring to modifying their V50 Monza, back in 1998.

It`s the lugs on the frame rails that make the difference not the pegs themselves
There are a pair of V50/3 pegs currently for sale on Ebay

It will "ride with wear" as Mr Humphries used to say.
