I've just drained the gearbox oil from my V50 and it was bright pink. In 50 years of bike maintenance I've never come across anything like this before.

Any suggestions?

Me I stick to the Guzzi recommendation EP 90 in gearbox with a tablespoon of moly in there the bevel box on the Tonti Big block is Ep90 with also moly added ....Small blocks use ep140 in bevel .... The V1000 had covered over 250,000 miles I then popped a standard bevel box on it as id had been utilising the 76 convert box, which due to the higher gearing caused the clutches to need replacing a wee bit earlier than they ought to have been ...... mind it gave 80 mph at 1000rpm lower ..... Not 100% sure but I think the bevel ratio in the 1100EV and Le Mans are same as Convert as they also rev lower at Motorway speeds in top BUT crucially pull top gear to redline , the V1000 with higher ratio rear drive wouldn't it was like an overdrive ratio .... just some observations really

I'll be replacing it with the recommended 75W/90 and adding a spot of moly - as well as modifying the breather so it doesn't come out all over the outside.....

To be honest, I think the Redline is much better than standard 75W/90, but it's your bike.

You do need to modify the breather though, especially if you are going back to "normal" oil.
