Well if the password had been guessed by a third party, it could end up one word against another. But PP must log the details of each customer log in, whether that includes an IP address I don't know. But I'm sure if pressed they would have more information. They should know the date and time of the transaction at the very least.

With regard to changing passwords etc.I changed the password as soon as I became aware of the fraud and the bank cancelled my credit card, replacing it with a new one in record time. There is no money in my PP account and as soon as the situation is resolved the PP account will be history.

That's the way to do it.

Simple to stop a card, just phone your bank and tell them you lost it. It will then be cancelled and anything linked to it is blocked. Then you get a new one with a new number.

The scam here usually is, anything that is mail ordered fraudulently is then sold on for cash. Read that somewhere.

My Credit card was due to expire earlier this year  and I received the usual email from paypal  suggesting I should update it , however this time i didn't bother . Weeks went by before I decided that paypal was the easiest way to carry out a particular transaction .
Logged into my a/c and surprisingly  the number had been automatically updated....  Googled and  found plenty with the same "problem" .   The other day received emailed updated t's and c's  from paypal which suggests that they're supplied with the info from banks and I need to contact my bank if I want to change it!

The eventual upshot of all of this was that Paypal/eBay, the same company, could not see that there was a problem and washed their hands of the issue. My bank re-embursed me and reported the affair to the police. What happened after that I don't know.

Nothing I expect. I have to share this true Police story with you: My friend has a barbers shop in town. Outside are 2 big square containers each with a bay tree in it. A couple of months ago, one went missing. Chap comes in the shop: "I saw the bloke nick your tree, here's a photo of the car registration on my phone. It was 3 in the morning, the car pulled up, bloke jumped out barefoot, and nicked the tree." My friend, the barber, runs his shop cctv and sees the whole thing. Rings plod. 2 days later someone comes round, they take his cctv hard drive away for a week. Eventually he rings for a progress report. Plod says: " We traced the car number and telephoned the owner: did you nick this tree? He said he didn't so we can't help you." I know we have a few ex coppers on here but they worked in a different time and I wouldn't wish to offend any of them. I think they would be as horrified as me, if we all had to go back to see how our old jobs are done, or not done, now.

Maybe I should try that one with regard to my recent Notice of Intended Persecution.

My bank did warn me that this was lightly to be Paypal's attitude.I'm not sure what I can do about it but I'm not going to let it rest.I wont be using their "services" again either.
Actually,I'm a bit peeved.
go and pay a visit to the delivery address and bust some heads

I have kicked them into touch after a charity auction I did, some stupid old git bid for a helmet ( everything was listed at 99p) then wanted to collect as he lived nearby, he didnt wasted lots of my time then complained it was not as described
they refunded all of his moeny in spite of it being listed no returns
I have since found out that this idiot likes to play, he dibbles and annoys people and it banned from a few motorcycle shops for timewasting
I am sure we will meet at some point though !

Having had a lot of spam related to PayPal over the years I felt any connection with them was decidedly risky so would never sign up to them. However, some purchases from eBay get payments on my credit card routed through them and how safe that is I'm not sure. I did have a card cloned once several years ago but luckily the thief fell at the first hurdle over the pin number and the card was immediately stopped by the bank.

I try to have nothing to do with Paypal but sometimes you have to look for the option it's not
immediately obvious on the screen.
It's there but you have to look.

I had my debit card cloned at a Shell filling station close by in Ottershaw. KNew nothing of it until I checked my bank account online. Bank refunded the money, and a few weeks later there was a newspaper report of someone being caught who worked there.
