On saturday I drive with the wife to southampton.  It's our 25th welding ...sorry...wedding anniversary and she/we are on a cruise for 12 nights around the canaries from said port.

ClapClap  So, that's a celebration of our love and devotion together.

And no bikes or fishing or listening to loud heavy metal in the garage.  And being stuck on a poncey boat with a dress code and  with what look like all the Marks and Spencers customers in front of me...

DeadDead  No escape....
Due to italian electrickery I am saying nowt. Despite nearly giving the Vstrom away the honda has gone...

First day on the ship, put. a note up (they always have a place) advertising a meeting of anyone interested in Guzis or old bikes or whatever. Name a time and place and see who turns up. You won't be the only one in your position

I was "persuaded" to go on a mini Christmas cruise last year. Tilbury to Rouen etc.
Fortunately it wasn't that well organised, so I don't think I will be persuaded again. Clap

I believe I possess the only Harris Tweed jacket in Lanjaron.
A cultural archetype, I could ride to hounds in it.
If I could ride.
Teamed with a decent pair of brogues it conquered Everest.
But not with me.

Woven on the misty distant Isle of Harris, which doesn't even have an opera house, from sheep purloined from the mainland and woven on looms made from shipwrecked driftwood and old bicycles, the tweed jacket remains the epitome of all that is not cool.
Which is really cool.

As is customary, my pockets bulge with balls of gardening twine, penknife, keys to forgotten padlocks, half a sandwich and a bag of mint imperials.
There is simply nothing in this world like an old tweed jacket.
Wear yours with pride Cugsy.

As you didn't tell her to off when the trip was suggested we must presume that after 25 years of marriage you still love her, and your complaints about having to wear proper clothes and lack of fishing opportunities conceal your true delight at spending time in civilised company. Obviously you are actually a closet human being and your whinging a mere pretence!
V7 Classic Black and gold is the best colour but green & black is nice too!

Ah well, at least you have the Internet to keep in touch with us oil-stained landlubbers.

As someone else has pointed out you will be warm, you are missing some dire weather here. As I type I can hear the rain beating against the window..

As for fellow passengers... I've never been on a cruise but I've met a few who have - perhaps a nice table for two somewhere in the dining room..

Shore leave should be good, as long as you can get away from the rest..

Must admit if I had my Guzzi on a ship at present I'd heave it overboard (but that's another story...)

Good luck..

Yes. I love her. I let her choose this cruise.  The alternative was new york and the return trip on the qm2. Marriage is compromise.  And as to the wingeing, i intend to continue ala meldrew.  Need to wash the EV before we go though

Fifty six hours of sunshine forecast for the week ahead, temperatures in the 60's.
Be prepared on your return to find that the UK has sunk.
Bon voyage ...

If you hear a bleeping sound as you approach the elevator, it'll be a mobility scooter trying to reverse out. Stand well back - they take no prisoners, especially if the driver(rider?) has opted for a drinks package!
