I'm in the process of replacing the steering head bearings on my old V7 Special. They may be the originals,I don't know, but I doubt it.The grease has completely dried out and what remains is a hard brown wax.The manual states that the bearings should be re-packed with grease at 12.000-mile intervals.Who does that when it involves a complete front end strip down?
So,why the devil did the manufacturer not install a grease nipple on the steering head tube of the frame.Surely not to save sixpence ha'penny at the time. Many older Brit' bikes had grease nipples in plenty and were the better for it.Given the utilitarian nature of the Loops it surprises me that such omissions were tolerated.

Disappointed. Got all excited after I read the post title only to find you talking about greasing your bearings!

Yes I would like to but the wall thickness of the tube is not so great.
If a small boss was welded to the tube then drilled and tapped right through it would make a better job.
