Right, so I've recently bought myself a 1991 Targa from a dealer who serviced the bike prior to delivery, it's in beautiful condition and I love it, today I took it out for the first time, it ticks over like a Swiss watch after it has eventually warmed up but over 40 mph it splutters a bit so I put in fresh fuel and I think it improved a bit and maybe the engine hadn't fully warmed up, I didn't have time really to find out as I had to pop out, I did about 10 miles on it today, any ideas?

I would put some redex in and ride it locally but do a good 60 miles and see if there is improvement before changing anything

The first thing to replace on most older small blocks are the choke plungers.  They have rubber ends that can go hard thereby not seating properly and giving you an overly rich mixture.

The carbs will be Dellorto probably PHBH30's - but please check first!!

This link should take you to the choke plungers:-

What Johnno said get the petrol redex wilkos way cheaper read the instructions, fill with fresh fuel take it at least 50 miles run the redex thro' then decide if to actually you need to investigate further .... carb choke is a good starting point too
