Greetings,

I'm new to Moto Guzzi. I've been building & riding Triumphs for awhile. I've owned and built a few BMW airheads. A close friend of mine passed away last January, and his daughter ask if I'd be interested in buying his 2017 V7 Aniversario. I'm going to pick it up today.

My friend and I didn't always have the same taste in cars or motorcycles, however, we both thought the V7 aniversary model was the best looking retro bike on the market. I seriously considered buying one when they came out, but I had recently bought a 2014 Triumph T100.

I'm going to be proud to own my late friends bike, but unlike him, I'm going to ride this beautiful machine. He bought it for the collectibility, he usually rode adventure type bikes, like a KLR 650.

This bikes screams, "Ride Me!"

Phil

I would be very interested to hear your views on how the V7 compares to The T100 Phil, as I am seriously considering downsizing to a lighter bike and am considering both machines.
No rush, just have the report on my desk by 9.00am tomorrow please! Big smile

p.s. Welcome to this friendly forum; it's the principal reason I'm considering owning a Guzzi again.
You won't find a better bunch of people on any other motorcycle forum.

OldJohnboy. I just took it for the first ride, about 20 miles. A lot of getting to know her. It does have a V-twin feel, not much different than a /5 or /6 Beemer, but handling is much better that the Beemers. It handles the rough spots a little better than the T100, but the T100 handling is better on the twisties. It may be I'm just getting use to it. It's gonna be tough for it to win me over, because I'm extremely partial to a parallel twin. It has a butt load of torque. I like that it tells you what gear you in, because its the first 6 speed I've owned.

I need to make a few adjustment, idle speed and clutch, but other than that, I think it's gonna be a great ride.

Ben I'm still an airhead. I just finished a 71 R60/5. I really like working on them.

Thanks Phil
Hmm - 6 gears: Big (these days) fuel tank: THAT engine  -  -  -
I need to get a ride on a V7iii and a T100 I think.
I rode a V7 about seven years ago; didn't like it on the way out; loved it on the way back.
That's Guzzis for you.
I have a Triumph now - It's always the same - every ride: Predictable: Dependable: Reliable: Smooth: Fast: Almost boring. Almost.
I had a Breva 1200. I loved it. It didn't always love me back, but I miss it.

Please keep us posted re - your V7.

Cheers

John

John

Perfect description. When I rode it home from my friends house, I thought, "why did I buy this?" Then I rode it on the interstate later, and realized this is one fine motorcycle.
