Hi....just joined the forum as I've taken on a "project" bike - a 1992 California 3 I.E.
It's been sat in a garage for 8 years gathering dust and condensation, and is now sat in my garage in ever smaller bits as I strip it to restore it back to full glory.

Welcome nice bike to get into .... top tip when looking for parts many are totally interchangeable stuff like footboards, footrests are same as all other California bikes as are bolt on bits .... great places for used spares Gutsibits, Reboot, NBS ...they often have new bits too
Batteries = Tayna New parts above plus Fowlers Teo Lammers, Stein Dense, Agostinis, do not be worried about looking to Europe for new parts they can often be cheaper and just as quick delivery Nigel at NBS is THE man for any gearbox and other work and Roy at OS Pipes is the Go to guy for Stainless exhausts and other bits like dome end wheel nuts and slightly smaller head size nut for the swingarm lock nut well worth getting those ..... Opie oils have a oilman thread and give 10% extra discount type in GUZZIRIDERS at checkout they give advice and deliver to the door oil/filters and other parts Elektrikery bits Vehicle Wiring Products are good and IF he is still trading Towzatronics .... Hope this helps Enjoy |

Hello and welcome, and congratulations on your new enterprise.
If you need any help, then photos and a bit of background would be useful. Are you stripping it to the frame and working back up from there? What´s the mileage? Did it run for twenty years and then get put aside? Sounds like there´s a bit of ground to cover before we get on to oil and tyres. It is vital to remember that your workshop, whatever it´s level of sophistication -- is now a shrine... Good luck.

A quick update and some photos on the Cali 3 IE restoration. I've decided to strip it comlpetely and restore it to its former glory! Not such a crazy idea because I've done this with a 1986 Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo and that had 4 wheels and 6 cylinders . The bike is now stripped and in the process of being refurbed....some pictures to show you how it looked at the beginning - it had sat in a garage since 2012 but miraculously passed its MOT!! |

That will take cleaning rockers polish easily on a mop, I found the best frame paint to be Hammerite smooth. satin seems to last longer, beware powder coat, difficult to touch up and a pin hole can really hide rust, The crank cases once cleaned, Hammerite Silver Smooth works well looks like alloy.
