Well my brand new MGX was destroyed by a deer the other night. I escaped with minor bumps and bruises thanks to my helmet and riding gear. Waiting to hear back from the insurance company but I think it is a total loss. Hit the deer head on and then the bike slid on both sides. Broke a lot of stuff.

Nasty. Glad you’re ok, and shame about the Bike. Muntjacs are a problem in this area- probably a bit smaller than the one that you collided with. Hope the Insurance coughs up.

If it's any consolation (probably not..) I just ran over a rabbit 200 yds from the house 10 minutes ago.  And, this is true..I did get hit by a deer that came leaping out of some tall corn field about 6 years ago. I left a trail of about half a mile in the corn..no idea where the bugger went.
Bloody bikes - bought a new 'onda and it's ok. Soon as the beemer goes I'm gittin' me a goozi jim bob...yessseerrriii

Good to hear you're okay. Deer here in the UK are a serious danger to motorcyclists too , I know of a fatal through deer collision . As it happens , there is a "what type of helmet" topic just now on the forum .......
what were you wearing ?

Lucky escape.
I've had several encounters with deer in the Windsor area. Always prefer them on my plate!.

Total bummer. Ouch

As it happens I had one run across in front of me on the A52 couple of months ago, in broad daylight too.

I'd just passed the triangular warning sign with the black sillouette of a deer on it, and bu99er me, right on cue there was one. Shocked

Never seen a deer on my riding days but have been close with some low flying wood pigeons.

The important thing is you are in one piece: plastic and metal can always be replaced.
