Hi - I've just joined this group, looking forward to reading and writing interesting Guzzi stuff

I've spent the last year or so rebuilding my LM4 into a 1000S look-a-like. I bought the LM4 in 1990 and ran it for 10yrs or so until life, children, work and newer bikes (Triumphs, sorry!) took over.

Here's where I started...

...here's a large pile of bits...

...and here where I was a few weeks ago

Electrics are now pretty much fitted (but not tested yet) and I'm sure I'll have plenty of question to ask as soon as I'm ready to try and start her!

I'm a MGCGB member, so will be looking forward to meeting any of you guys from the Cambridge/Essex/Norfolk/Suffolk branches once she's back on the road.

Cheers, Tim

Thanks for all your welcome messages, guys.

George S - thanks also for your offer to help out. Could you do me a favour and give me some measurements of your front mudguard - the curved length around the outside of the mudguard, the straight line between the front and back, and its width - so as I can match it as best I can with a pattern one.

TIA, Tim

Hi. I believe LM4 has 16" front wheel 1000s has 18", not sure if dimensions will suit your conversion.
bike not accessible this week, let me know if you still want dimensions and I will post next week.
There was a later kit to convert LM4 to 18". No idea if still available how involved or cost

That's right, George, my LM4 had a 16" front and 18" rear wheels - they've both been replaced with 17" spokeys. I'd still be interested in your mudguard dimensions if you're able to get to your bike next week.

Anyone interested in buying the 16" front, or any of the plastic parts? I'll be selling them as soon as I can get round to putting an ad together.

Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim

I'm in Cambridge too, so thought I should say hello!  Currently rebuilding my Bitsa as, like yours, it has been off the road for years while the whole young children 'challenge' passed.

Cheers, Barry
