Just a quick query
my main beam warning light isn't working
the handbook says it's an LED.
before I take the instrument apart is there a source of the LEDS anywhere?

Thanks

First thing to do is remove the big plug on the back, spray pins with contact cleaner and reinsert. Just make sure it's not the simple thing first.

As far as the LED is concerned, I have no idea apart from it will be a surface mounted type, and blue.

Have you ever had misting up in the dash? It has been known for condensation to build up and puddle at the bottom, affecting the PCB. In our FAQ section there is an article on this, which includes how to take the dash apart.

I'll live with it but hope the MOT man doesn't notice

Worth unplugging the dash and spraying the connector to clean the pins. That could just solve it.

I have read about many documented dash and ECU faults which were traced to corroded connector pins.

They can cause problems throughout the bike, my fuel pump problem was eventually traced to a dodgy hidden connection.

Everybody I've ever heard of has always regretted sell their VFR 750 or 800.

If push comes to shove I shall mount a blue warning light into the unused ABS or heated grip blank buttons on my bike. Eg link a live feed from the main beam bulb .
I'm sure I can make a neat job of two wires

Bikini fairing removed
disconnect pins cleaned reconnection and SAME
but
on start up as all the instruments sweep and check the blue led does com on and off
so that means the power from the main bulbs not getting to the relevant pin to illuminate the warning bulb
mot booked for Thursday, so looks like the fresh led in the vacant defunct abs switch hole will be the only option.
gŕrrrrrrrr
