Speaking of which I'm still trying to find someone to give my inlaws' 65 year old "classic" board to. It was a wedding present don't you know?

got a response from TL asking why they wont ship - they are trying to understand what they cant and cant do and expect to be shipping to UK in three weeks. they should speak to Stein Dinse.
is it just the Dutch attitude to Brexit ?

Yes, it's heavy. I'm actually thinking of weighing it for scrap! It's probably had more covers than Trigger's Broom had heads. Interestingly the plate at the end for the iron was originally a piece of asbestos - that miracle material of the time. I'm not sure that the FiL's replacement with a piece of MDF is as fireproof!

is it just the Dutch attitude to Brexit ? I don't know Jim, but they were the ones who were confiscating truck drivers' sandwiches.

Especially if you had ham from Holland in those sandwiches, or Edam cheese.

There's a business opportunity there for a Dutch sandwich van.

The idiot Politicians could have easily had it sorted a year ago instead of posing and such THEY totally screwed up. As usual they HAD to make a drama out of it all they ought to be held to account BUT that is the very biggest issue with The EU these people create mayhem, leave everyone else to sort it out and walk away laughing.
To go to the wire over a Christmas and New Year break for ALL of Europe then swagger off like they all won something when in reality they did what they had on the table over a year ago is utterly disgusting. The Companies will get it sorted when their respective Politicians get back to doing the actual job! Some of it will be yahh boo tit for tat squabbling The International shippers have it sorted it is the various Countries Customs that can't figure it all out. Imagine the disruption had it been No Deal!

Without getting into any adversary politics on this, I never expected that to happen. Both parties had to get the best deal they could that would be acceptable to their home audiences. For the UK that meant everything from people wanting to block up the Eurotunnel and go back to 1930 to those who hanker for a European superstate. For the EU it was even more complex. Not only 27 separate states but within many of those are groups who would want to leave so they daren't be seen to make it easy or favourable that wouldn't go down well. In the end we have a pragmatic compromise with lots of detail to sort out in slow time. As I was taught in sales training, if both parties are mildly disappointed then you've actually got the best possible deal for both.

I think the answer is to look to the future and try to iron out and improve the ongoing issues rather than go back and comment about things we can't change.
