Hi, just a brief intro from an ageing V7 ii Stone rider. My first Guzzi after a few Japs and a BSA A65 outfit and an R100RT. Been riding since the mid 70's but only got back into the saddle in 2011. Bought the Guzzi new in May 2015 and love it! Suits my era perfectly. Wife would like a more comfy pillion perch (the 'comfort' seat is anything but, in fact I prefer the standard item.) Would love a V9 engine in a traditional roadster's frame, but until Guzzi decide to build one, will stick with the V7. Anyone tried the mkiii? Haven't seen a review anywhere yet, but unless it offers something drastically more than the ii, I don't think I will bother changing yet for just a few more bhp. Essential accessories for me were heated grips, screen, better horns, rack and topcase. With a more comfy seat, wife might be up for a little light touring she says!
Best wishes to all Guzzistas.
Chris

Yes, the OE one is certainly weedy. I noted that at the first road test and ass soon as I got the bike home, I ordered some improved replacements from eBay only about £15:00. Dead easy to swap and much improved (and used!)

Welcome. Which part of the county? I was born and bred in Clive. Grandparents lived in Church Stretton.

But it was a long time ago, probably wouldn't recognise the place now.

Hi Johnno
It was the lightening, same sort of torque characteristics as the V7 as I recall, had a penchant for seizing up, though that was probably due to the ignorance and misuse of a 17 year old!

Thanks Brian. Ah, you came from the very scenic part of the county indeed. I don't think you would find that those towns have changed too much! I am in Wellington and one of my favourite sunny afternoon rides is to Church Stretton via Much Wenlock, sometimes carrying on the Burway if the weather is good. You should revisit, some super roads!

Chris, don't tell everybody how good the roads are here in shropshire, we need to keep them....
Shrewsbury to Knighton A488 (hope valley) with a stop off in Clun for tea and cake in the little cafe by the bridge.
Then back via church Stretton and much wenlock to telford is a good run.....

A fair few of us have had seats modified and recovered by G A Wells and sons in Shepshed they offer a reasonably quick service top work and reasonable price they redid the dual seat replacement for the twin seats on my EV and got a red pinstripe around the seat to exactly run off the one on the paint of the tank local to me but have re done seats by mail order ....

Thanks Ken, will bear that in mind, quite fancy the look of the Corbin seat, would allow the wife a bit more leg room and better view over my shoulders perhaps? Any one tried these?

The cafe by the bridge in Clun is convenient for the carpark but my test purchases reveal that the coffee and service is much better at the cafe up the hill a bit on the main drag. Unless the bridge cafe has changed hands; it was for sale last I time I was there in 2016.
