Hi Guzziriders! I'm Gilles and I live in Belgium (Europe). Car nuttery is in my DNA (driving technique, sports cars and sportily driving road cars, track driving, all the tech stuff like suspension setup, etc) and at 25 I've ran into some serious motorcycle addiction as well. I've started my 2-wheeled career on a Beemer (4 Valve boxer R 1100 R naked) and had some Beemers since then. In the car department, I'm especially keen on Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Jaguar, Porsche and BMW (in that order) so it was only a matter of time before I added some Italian vibe into the motorcycle side of my garage. And that would've always been a Griso. I fell in love with the looks of the Griso since I saw pictures of the Tenni S.E. Must've been somewhere in 2014 of 2015. At that time, I'd just bought a BMW K 1300 R and I mistakingly felt like those two bikes wouldn't be very compatible, so I set the Griso plan aside to a later date where I would've outgrown or gone cold on the K13R. Sadly (well yeah, sort of) the K 1300 R is one of the all time best motorcycles ever built (in my book) and after +100.000 km on it (including track use, off road mountain passes, top speed runs on German Autobahn, some serious travelling, and everything in between), it's clear to me that I will not part from it willingly. So, back to the Griso. I've been looking out for a 'correct' one for a year or two. It should be an S.E. for sure (looks of the spoked wheels) but they're not that common anymore. Most of them that came on sale here in Europe still ran on flatties and that held me back. And then, all of a sudden, a 2007 ZGULSE came on sale, with a string of mods to it that made it verrry appealing to me. Kineo tubeless spoked rims, some small personal touches with red accents, Agostini exhaust, roller kit C installed by the Agostini team itself in Mandello, etc. Contacted the seller, went to see it and bought it on the spot. That's 2 weeks ago and I'm already totally Guzzified. I've only driven it twice: the pick-up ride home and a support group ride in memory of a fallen (killed) police officer here in Brussels. So I can't tell very much about its driving yet, but boy I do know this: she'll grow on me FAST. :h: Seconds before my first EVER ride on a Guzzi: (Yep, I've bought her "dry", without test drive. Oops.) The ride home from Brussels to Ghent: ZEGULSE0027M111539 coming home: Next to her new sister in the daily's garage: Look how compatible they are! They're like pieces of a puzzle. I was SO mistaken! As you can see, she's a first production year Griso in black. First registration is early 2009 but she's a 2007 built Griso, if I'm not mistaken. She's done 22k km with her two previous owners. Mods on the bike when I bought her: - Kineo tubeless spoked wheels - CARC torque bar by Radical Guzzi - Agostini silencer with catalyst - Corbin seat in carbon & asphalt leather with red piping - Rizoma handlebars in anodized silver - Gazzini handlebar weights in black - Motogadget mirrors - Gazzini indicators - tailtidy of unknown brand - carbonfiber flyscreen of an unknown Italian brand that's ceased to exist after the untimely death (road accident) of the owner - carbonfiber timing cover of the same make - handmade aluminium ring (Givi TankLock) of unknown origin - frame plates painted in RAL 3002 (carmine) of 3003 (ruby) ... not sure yet, a RAL color chart is on its way so I can ascertain the color - aftermarket heated grips The bike came with all the original parts (rims, silencer, handlebars, bar-end weights, mirrors, grips, flyscreen, seat, rear end plastic stuff, indicators, ... Also present: the original OEM Guzzi semi-rigid side pannier kit in very good condition AND the original Guzzi tank bag. The latter I will not ever use, but the side panniers might as well accompany me on a trip ... say ... over the Alps towards Mandello? :) I plan some further mods to it, to my own liking/taste. - Agostini straight connecting pipe (already arrived) - passenger peg delete (already done) - new, shorter, more minimalist tailtidy (ordered) - Brembo brake calipers painted/powdercoated in matching red (used calipers and Brembo rebuild kits already arrived) - black minimalist indicators - reinstall of the original handlebars (the Rizoma silver doesn't match with the chrome-shadow silver paint of the Guzzi parts) - engine finetuning with open air filter housing, BMC filter, piggyback ... and a dyno run backed specialist's finetuning - ... Have fun with your Griso and a lot of safe km. I also come from BMW and came to a V7iii to replace my destroyed R100CS. Still have my R1150R for lage trips and not so nice weather.

Welcome & very nice (especially the upgrades/changes & especially wheels ). Tank ring is likely Onurs (think he's selling on eBay now).
At 2007, it must have been one of the first (I'm riding a 2009 registered, no idea when it was made) & would have come with absolute pile of rubbish factory map so would be interesing what map it's now running (Updated factory, modified factory by Dyno people, Beetle - hopefully not got a PC fitted!!)....enjoy (lot's of upgrades still left to think about including RCS mastercylinders to replace the black reservoirs that generally flake paint)

Hi all, thanks for the replies!
Paul, you've got my attention, now! :D I said "2017 built" because that's what the VIN readout (on some internet site, dunno which one I used) said. That's all I know, for now. The map that's on there is still the stock map, to my knowledge. The former owner didn't change it and the first owner (whom I do not know) had the bike 101% as from factory, says the 2nd owner. So, a decent tune should improve things a lot, you reckon? With "PC", do you mean the piggyback thing, PowerCommander? If yes: I haven't read into it, yet, but ... care to link me to some decent thread(s) about that?

No no, pissing people off is a skill that I do not possess nor aspire. I paid a good 3 times that much and reckon it was a fair price, looking at the state, at the fact that it's rollerized, its kilometres, the (worth of the) options and hop-ups. It was loved by the previous owner. He shed a tear when I drove off after the sale. That alone is worth paying for: taking on a beloved item from someone who poured heart and soul into it. The bike carried over that passion onto me on our first drive. Love is pricesless. And didn't even talk down his asking price. And looked at the bike for 3 minutes and then listened to its story for an hour. And then I said 'yep'. That's it. :)

The first generation map (presume you mean 2007 & can't be 2017 else no need for rollerisation) was so bad for jerky behaviour under 4,000 rpm, I nearly sold it !. Also the learning parameters & closed loop Lambda meant it was hard to adjust anything as it changed (leaned out) all the time. After messing around with tunerPo & switching Lambda off it didn't improve so I got guzzidiag software & Lonelec cables & upgraded to latest factory map - much better.
Later on I switched to Beetle map (see Griso ghetto) & eventually a 'tuned map' a friend (with Griso) had developed on Dyno for his bike (Termni exhaust) which runs much better at low revs than anything else I tried. If yours rides well it's likely already had remap but you can easy check if you go the guzzidiag/Lonelec cables route (also allows you to reset any faults, reset TPS angle after balancing/adjustments), and just read the output about map. General recommendations for post buying used Griso are to make sure swing arm bearings & suspension linkages at rear are checked and regreased (unless it's already been done); grease steering head bearings; change sump gasket when you get chance; upgrade rear shock & change front fork oil to 5W. There's not much worth doing tuning for power BUT always worth balancing cylinders & doing valve adjustment. |

If you lift the fuel tank, there might be a date stamped to the rear of the headstock on one of the frame gussets. My Norge has this, so I assume it was normal practice.

Yeah, 2007. Mistyped.
I will look into the mapping for sure. I do find her somwhat jerky at lower revs on constant speed, but whether that's a normal amount for a decently running Griso 8V or it's the "unacceptable" amount, I do not know.
I'm confident that she's been maintained well. I have the invoices and it seems she hasn't been deprived of the recommended maintenance. She was maintained at one of the best Guzzi dealers / workshops here in Belgium too (close to my hometown) so I'll keep on taking her there. Rear shock was replaced (some 5k km ago) with a Shock Factory M-Shock. French brand, fair price, 1-way adjustable damping, preload adjustable. Should be (a lot) better than stock. But setup isn't to my liking yet: on higher speeds and higher lean angles (100 km/h and 25° and more), so sporty cornering, she's behaving as if low speed compression and rebound are way too soft. The unit is only 1-way adjustable, so I'll have to experiment. I'll have to look into spring preload as well, but I'm taking the shock unit out before adjusting that (I sadly have bad experiences with filthy Bilstein PSS9 and PSS10 car units in terms of spring preload adjustement...). If there's still a sub par feeling after correct setup, I'll upgrade the fork inners and the rear shock to higher tier units. Not too soon, though: first I've get to know her better. After she was at Agostini (Mandello) for installation of roller kit C, she's done 1.500 km and then checked meticulously again here at the dealer's (heads taken off, valve adjustement, new gaskets, oil change, etc) and found to be very healthy.
