Hi All,

Greetings from Nigeria.

I'm about to get a Moto Guzzi Breva 850 2008 model. I'm a little worried about the Air cooled in the Temperate region I live in (get's as hot as 38 degrees) & I live in Lagos which has major traffic jams. Meaning the bike will be in a hot environment plus mad traffic jam. Being Air cooled can it withstand that heat without affecting the engine?

Need reactions because I might have to take a decision next week

Thanks.

There are many Moto Guzzis in Australia where temperatures as high as 40 degrees are relatively normal and they don't seem to suffer. Just make sure you use the correct 10W60 engine oil.

Sorry the oil readily available here is 20W50. Will this do or it must be 10W60?

Firstly welcome to the Forum... probably our first person in Africa... certainly first in Nigeria.

I'm sure one of the "experts" will give you an alternative to 10:60 - Here in the UK you can only get it from specialist outlets... try places that sell Aston Martins or other high performance cars

lol thanks very the welcome Adam. Feels good to be the 1st African (& Nigerian) here Clap Big smile

I'm really hoping the 20W50 would do if not would have to always order oils outside the country which could be expensive. But I think I could stop at the Porsche Shop (I'm sure they also fit into High performance Wink )

Thanks once again

Cannot see why not, the lower number is only for cold engine in the coldest weather conditions. How cold is it likely to get in Nigeria? Big smile

Not the first from the African continent, we have someone from Namibia and I think South Africa.

It's not the 20 instead of 10, but the 60 instead of 50 in the heat.

Then 1st Nigerian is ok for me. Clap

Yeah 60 to 50 is my worry. Will stop by at the Porsche dealership if they got 10W60. Also when I checked on Amazon.com Total has a Synthetic oil 10W60 so will check a Total fuelling station. They always have engine oil

Most of the oil companies make a 10W60 grade oil, worth looking around.
