MOT due soon on my 2005 V11 Breva. I noticed the hazard warning lights are not working, I'm pretty sure it's the button on the console as the indicators are fine. Probably lack of use as I have never used them and the button doesn't pop in and out with a click as you would expect.
Is it a requirement for the MOT test? Would I get away with removing the button and replacing it with a blank if I can't locate a new one?
Thanks in advance

I am fairly sure they're not a requirement but check here: https://www.mot-testing.service.gov.uk/documents/manuals/class12/index.html

I'm no expert in this but there's a general 'rule' as I understand it that if fitted and not working, it might constitute a fail.  If the switch is not fitted (or obscured, some say), that component deemed 'not fitted' so can't be tested.

End of the day I'd be asking the bloke who is actually going to be testing your machine for guidance in this respect. If he's worth his or her salt, then surely would rather someone was making the effort to check for and resolve any potential issues before attending the 30 minute appointment?

Never known them test the hazard lights, only the indicators.

If removing or blanking off the switch then don`t forget to do the same for the idiot light on the dash

Slightly off topic, is that you with the double bass in your avatar Handyandy? If so, are you in a band in Wilts?

I also seem to remember reading an article that if it is fitted it should work. However it you follow the link for Inspection checklists for MOT testers Hazards are on the Car MOT Inspection checklist but not on the Motorcycle MOT Inspection Checklist

Good morning Andy, I have just taken my bike for its MOT, ( passed by the way ). I asked of the tester, your initial question regards hazard warning lights. His answer was quick and emphatic, Hazard warning lights are not part of the motorcycle MOT test . . . So there you have it, straight from the horses mouth . . . No need to have any fears or concerns. Hope this sets your mind at rest . . . Regards, Tony

It is Jerry, I'm doing a few things although no longer playing the upright bass - the old Carpal Tunnel syndrome put the kibosh on that I'm in a Swindon based John Lennon based act plus I play in a band called the "Groove Radicals" and currently helping out a blues outfit once a month on a Sunday afternoon in a pub in Wroughton

Great news Tony, thanks for asking

I had considered a strategically placed sat-nav mount to obscure the button or even buying a new one for £25 from Fowlers, which would be cheaper than a re-test but no need now
