I had a 25+ year break from motorcycling, luckily when I was thinking of returning our local authority had a discount scheme with local training schools.
I've always been a regular cyclist and I think my 2 wheel sense is pretty good, but the refresher course I did was really good. I  learned a thing or two and re-remembered things I'd forgot.

It was a couple of years after the course when I eventually bought my V7, but I finished the course knowing I'd be buying another bike Big smile

I had a few young lads accompany me when riding through Peckham
I was just working out my plan to cause the maximum damage to them, when a big SUV blocked the road
they didnt look so tough looking down the barrel of a HK
odd that
I rode on with a smile
never saw where the cops came from, but let us say they were robust in stopping the lads
I would think for a scooter ride one of those wrist straps that quad bike users have would be an idea
a .38 S and W would be even better !

there are "devices" look on the well known auction site for "biker whip lanyard" they are an ornate plaited lanyard that can affix to mirror stalk but have a quick release hook catch so could be released quickly saw them for sale at some shows last year at that time never occurred to me that they may have a practical use ......

a self loading rifle that can fire full auto or single shots, although I think the met have theirs limited to 3 rounds on full auto as it tends to climb
it bangs out a 7.62 round, a bit bigger than the weapon used by our armed forces
and is equipped with a laser sight to red dot the scum
ideal for dealing with Yardies, armed crims and drug dealers
oddly in my case the young man concerned did not fire out the usual rhetoric about skin colour or background
he STFU !
sensibly

They also carry a Glock Pistol, for close work

I knew what HK (Heckler & Koch firearms) stood for and they come in a variety of types. I did have to google STFU however! That is my age I think. I will immediately start using STFU prolifically with all and sundry so STFU all you STFUppers out there. Being used by someone of my age will make STFU instantly unpopular with the younger crowd and so they will have to come up with an alternative, but they can STFU!

No Chris, you're fine as you are, thankfully, without using all that stuff, all the so called street talk, that and "just saying", etc., if you do feel the need to look up the urban dictionary, they have some good explanations as to why these words/phrases are used by people.

The one I can't figure out is the use of  "back in the day", excuse me but what day are you talking about, you have used the definitive article, "the", so it pertains to a certain day.

Have to say the use of "So" , the upper inflection at the end of a sentance, "Awesome" as well as the so called "street talk" is all down to the influence of the media, mind nothing new ....When one was a yoof the increased sales of the longer "more" cigarettes was down to ONE film star .... as no one could easily get cigarillos here then ..Clint in the spag westerns, that ... the big take up of cigarettes was due to the influence of Hollywood ....the old black n white movies everyone had a ciggie in the mouth ...oh and the number of "Steve" Frank etc born in the 50's must be at record levels ...
