Hi, all,

I'm pursuing the over-fuelling on the Cali - yet - again.  A suggestion this morning made me think about the FPR.  This has Guzzi part #(GU)29112760.

It's listed in a few places - Stein-Dinse, Fowlers, Harpers - as no longer available, and earlier posts on the web imply that it's horribly expensive.  I'm hoping it's not needed, but if it is, does anyone know where I can get one, or - even better - an alternative at a sensible price?

And is there an easy way to test the existing FPR?  I replaced the Pump and the Filter in pursuit of the problem (pump was knackered anyway....) but I assumed that the FPR was good.

TIA!

Paul

Thanks, but that one doesn't look like the 1100i (1995) one.  I suspect it's from later models.  The 1100i one looks like this:

#16 on the diagram

from EFI Manual.

There must be an automotive equivalent out there.  I was hoping someone might know what it is...

I confess to knowing nothing about the model, but FPRs are pretty simple devices in general. Is it internal to the tank or outside?

Thanks, Ian.

I started to look at the adjustable FPRs as a way forward should I need one.

There's an interesting discussion here:
which has left me confused: the diagram in the EFI manual for the 1100i shows the vacuum side of the FPR connected to the manifolds on the injectors, but the discussion concludes that they shouldn't be and probably were not connected by MG.  I can't remember what's under the tank (I di remove the throttle bodies, but that was 2 years and my memory is sieve-like. I will have to take the tank off to see...

I'll follow the How to test link after Easter and see if I need to replace the FPR.

I had a pleasant run to the Point of Ayre this morning, and the fuel light came on on the way back.  Not a good sign, as I've not quite done 100 miles since I last filled her up.  I'm off to the petrol station in a moment to see how bad the consumption is....   :-((

I know Tonewuk here fitted an adjustable regulator to his Bellagio. But he's also on holiday at the moment.

I remember that on early models of the Triumph Tiger 955i like the one I had, there was a connection from the FPR to the plenum chamber. Later versions had the same FPR (with a spigot for this connection) but omitted the connection itself causing much head scratching amongst owners looking for the pipe.

All it did was sense external air pressure to give a reference point so whether it was in the plenum or fresh air really didn't make much difference.

Knowing Guzzi if you can find the maker/part number then search for that most items are same as fitted to Italian cars it Fiat/Alpha Lancia .... the TDC/RPM is a marelli car part under £30 where THE exact same part is £139 from Guzzi, The fuel filter and pumps are common car parts at a fraction of the price ....so it is a pretty safe bet the other fuel parts are as it has to supply the pump

Thanks, Ian.  This seems to concur with the link I posted: it's good to get some confirmation.

I've had a busy time with the other geese over Easter, and the Cali will be on hold now till after the Stafford Show.  The recent improvements I've carried out - new sensors for TDC and RPM with shims - have made no discernible difference to the MPG, so I'll see what the FPR is doing when I get back.  If that's not the culprit then it's off to Slick Bass with it!

Thanks, Ken.  My original post was asking if anyone knew which alternative part(s) would replace the one in the Cali should it be needed.

I think a few minutes on eBay might be in order :-)

Don't look at the Guzzi part no look on the actual component and the makers part, the rpm sensor for instance has a GU part No but has a marelli part No too
