Afternoon all. Bikeless in the UK but tomorrow may change all that. We'll see.

Anyways, last bike was a Breva 1100 that must have been 3 and a half years ago now. For the past few months I've been twitching for another, Guzzi, at least. The latest bikes, V7, V9 and the V85TT all appeal.

Tomorrow I'll be looking at "blankety blank" and this will sway the rest of my biking year. I've read some of Brian UK's buying tips. The immobiliser code and keys was a timely reminder.

Let you know how I fair...

Cheers Stu Tongue

Thanks for the welcomes.

Popped up to Ormskirk and I'm now the proud owner of a troublesome teen. A 2006 Breva 1100. My plan is to sort it out and paint it Stornello style. May not pan out but no harm in trying. So that'll be a mainly shed year.

Seen some good videos on blacking the pot fins with polished edges. https://youtu.be/WFr0je02Nzc

I'll be collecting it over the weekend so no pictures as yet. Will add and document my endeavours.

For those wondering: ebay.co.uk item 292848490749

Next year for the New bike then :D

Thanks Smile

Slightly numb fingers but home with my New, One owner since the last owner Breva 1100 ABS.

Came with panniers and top box.

I'll have to start taking things off, such as hugger, rear mudguard extender, Stelvio hand guards ect... give it a clean and check over and go from there.

Will be checking in the forum for tips. GuzziDiag connections are on their way and the manuals in the download section are very handy (Smile).

Thanks for the welcome and a place to hang. Cheers Stu

Thanks Tris and will do with sunny weather on it's way.

The ride back yesterday raised one main issue that'll need addressing before weekend rides, vibration. Mostly left. The right not so much but there. I suspect both sides vibrate the same just I have a tighter hand grip on the throttle and there's the "twist gap". Less grip on the left and ouch did it buzz. A very fine, aggressive high rate vibration. Motorway speeds 4000, 5000RPM (about).

My old 05 Breva had a vibe, but a cool vibe. So there's something wrong.

That's one of the reasons I'm taking stuff off, get a closer look-see. The left bar was loose prior to the ride home and it has no pins going through the triple tree to the base of the head lap brackets, they're cable tied! So lose nuts if any will contribute to vibes and rattles.

Valve clearance and TB balance will help too.

Anyway, decking dismantle today! Ride safe :)

Before taking the bike apart to look for the cause of vibration, balance the throttle bodies. Being out of balance is the most common cause.

There should be three bolts holding the LH bar to the top yoke, one going up from underneath.

Great advice. But making sure your handlebar stays where it should be is always a good move.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Have had a few more rides of the bike as is and my brother has also been for a spin who has many, many more years experience of riding than me. His take is "it's alright, there's no excessive vibration other than it being a twin".

So I best put this out there, Embarrassedmaybe I was a bit nervous and tense on the ride back and leaning on my left palm may have caused the tingles more so than the vibrations. It's a physically big bike that needs getting used to. Yep, I've had one before and that was the same size. I tried HeliBars (wasn't keen), Breva/Sport bars (they were alright) and those inch block raisers on both Guzzi standard setups. I'll still check the valves and throttle sync but didn't want to make out that that solved a problem that may not actually be there. Like wearing shoes that don't fit, can't blame them for your blisters...

Anyway, V5 came today, possibly 2 previous owners. The first 3 years of the bike, 2006 to 2009, the first MOT, the owner had done 36000. The for the next 8 or so years 2- 4 thousand was put on each year to it's present 55000. It's good the so much was done early on. lets see if I can get that to 100,000...

Safe riding peeps.Smile
